ECLIPSE SEASONS

This year's Hinode eclipses are expected between May 9 and August 3 (2007). Maximum duration of each eclipse will be shorter than 20 minutes out of the 98-minute-orbit of Hinode.
The calculation for the plot below is based on Hinode orbital elements and their derivatives as of January 2007. Atmospheric refraction is not taken into account because data is degraded when the Sun is observed through the atmosphere. For purposes of calculation, the Sun is treated as a point and its angular size is not considered. (The plot below was made by Dr. Soma at NAOJ.)
