HINODE Images

06 Jan link to XRT archive XRT Images Here you will find full-disk images of the Sun taken with Hinode's X-Ray Telescope (XRT). Among the goals of the XRT are to study the dynamics of fine-scale coronal phenomena, such as magnetic reconnection and coronal heating mechanisms, and to record large-scale global phenomena, such as coronal mass ejections. The images are courtesy of Harvard-Smithsonian's Center for Astrophysics.

01 Nov link to wavelength comparison images Wavelength Comparison Images This page contains images that compare data from Hinode with other instruments. The complementarity of the data is shown, developing a much more complete understanding of the solar atmosphere.

22 Sep link to launch images Launch Images This page contains images from the launch of Hinode on September 22, 2006 (or September 23 6:36 am Japanese Standard Time). From sunrise to the launch itself, we see views of the ignition, flight, and the empty pad after launch.

14 Sep link to pre-launch images Pre-Launch Images In the days before launch (9 Sep through 14 Sep), Hinode went through final checkouts and was mated to the launch vehicle.
