Ground Level Events

Ground Level Events are caused by high-energy neutrons produced by cosmic rays and sometimes by high-speed particles from solar flares and other storms.

Severe GLEs, seen as increases in the traces in the above lots, indicate that satellite or high-altitude equipment may be affected by higher than usual noise ,or subject to unexpected anomalies in their operation.
