SOLAR-B MISSION STATUS IMAGES

These images were taken in Japan during testing of the Optical Telescope Assembly for Solar-B.

Image of the optical telescope assemply, click for larger image. The Optical Telescope Assembly (OTA) is seen in this photo taken on 10 April, 2005. Testing proceeded thereafter at the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) and included alignment and acoustical tests.
The optical telescope assembly being prepared for testing, click for larger image. This series of images shows the setup for the acoustic tests in which the SOT is subjected to the same type of acoustic stress it will receive during launch.
